For the past century, income from unique coffees like this has helped the Nyeri Hill Farm establish and maintained various health, education and pastoral institutions. Within the farm’s precincts, there are over 23 Institutions which include Schools and Colleges, Hospital, Seminaries and early childhood education.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri ownership of Nyeri Hill Farm Coffee Estate dates back to 1904 when the Consolata Fathers established the first Coffee demonstration plot at the present site where the Consolata Mission Hospital Mathari is located. It ranks the farm among the oldest and the largest coffee plantations in Africa. The farm also serves over 375 people directly who earn a living from it and over 1,875 people indirectly.
