Melvin Alonzo’s farm Finca Californeo Jr. produced this exceptional organic Honduran coffee. It features dense fruit notes of cherry, plum, and raisin in both the aroma and the cup.

Located in Marcala, Honduras, Melvin Alonzo’s farm Finca Californeo was founded in 2008 and he has been a partner since 2016. Melvin Alonzo began working in the coffee industry when he was ten years old, helping his father Omar Alonzo on his farm, Cual Bicicleta. (If you drink a lot of Amavida’s coffee, there is a good chance that you have tasted coffee from Cual Bicicleta in our cafes.) Needless to say, Melvin Alonzo has been around coffee his entire life!

Like his father, Melvin Alonzo is dedicated to producing exceptional organic coffee on his small farm. Each Icatu coffee plant has its fruit hand picked three different times over the course of the harvest season. This ensures that the cherries are ripe when they are removed from the tree. Such attention to detail and quality produces organic Honduran coffee that is syrupy and dense with pronounced cherry and plum flavors.

The Bottom Line

Melvin Alonzo Honduras coffee will blow your mind! This single origin coffee, from Finca Californeo, has an exceptional flavor profile with notes of cherry, plum, and maple syrup.

Special thank you to our friends at Cooperative Coffees for helping us import this coffee and share the producer’s story.
