Finca Californeo Jr. Delivers Honey Process, Honduras Coffee With Heart

As a child, Melvin Alonzo began working on the land of his father, Oscar Omar Alonzo. From the age of ten, he was exposed to coffee production and the immense amount of work involved in bringing an exceptional product to harvest. In 2008, Melvin took the next step and founded Finca Californeo Jr, his own four hectare farm in Marcala, Honduras.

Amavida has carried small amounts of coffee from both Oscar Alonzo’s Cual Bicicleta and Melvin Alonzo’s Finca Californeo in our cafes in the past, and we are excited to share a new and unique honey processed coffee from Melvin Alonzo’s farm with you. Each of this smallholder’s Icatú coffee plants has its fruit picked on three separate occasions over the course of the harvest cycle to ensure that cherries are mature. This dedication to meticulous quality assurance has resulted in an exceptional single origin coffee.

The Bottom Line

Melvin Alonzo’s Finca Californeo  Jr. has produced a dense and fruity honey processed Honduras coffee that is sure to be popular. This limited release organic coffee is syrupy and has great body. Dried fruit notes of raisin, currant, and cherry are pronounced in both the dry aroma and the brewed beverage. Enjoy this coffee or one of our other offerings today.

Thanks to our friends at Cooperative Coffees for helping us tell the story of this great coffee.
