$19.95

Clear

This is not a typical Ethiopian coffee. The Idido Cooperative has produced an elegant and citric washed crop that is among the most complex coffees from the Yirgacheffe region. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most unique Ethiopian coffees we have ever had the privilege of roasting at Amavida Coffee Roasters! Jasmine is prominent in both the dry fragrance and aroma. Kiwi, lime, and other tropical fruit flavors balance the coffee’s floral undertones, resulting in a bright, balanced, and memorable cup. Fair Trade Coffee.

Ethiopia Idido Coffee from the Wegida Washing Station

The Idido Cooperative Union, located in the Gedeo zone of southern Ethiopia, is responsible for producing some of the world’s finest specialty coffee. Its more than 1,000 members come from 7 different villages spread throughout the area to the east of the town of Yirgacheffe and is located in a high altitude valley in southern Sidama. In addition to Ethiopian coffee, most of the farmers in Gedeo also grow enset, a banana-like plant used to produce bread as well as fiber for making ropes and mats. Idido Cooperative joined Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU) in 2003.

This particular lot of Ethiopian coffee is named for the Wegida washing station, one of 3 that are operated by Idido Cooperative. Coffee processed in Idido’s washing stations are typically kept separate and will be distinctive from one another as a result. This offering from Wegida is especially good.
