Coffee Cupping Sessions

Are you a…
  • Student of culinary arts
  • Purveyor of fine food
  • Wine supplier or Sommelier
  • Server in a food/beverage establishment
  • Bartender or Mixologist

For those who work in the food and beverage industry and appreciate fine coffee, we invite you to study further by attending one of our cupping sessions.

What We Teach

At cupping events we teach the terminologies necessary when “cupping coffee” (an industry term used for evaluating coffee). You will also learn the difference between high and low grade coffee beans and why the difference could occur in the field or through processing, storing, and/or roasting. Through a combination of teaching, showing, and tasting you will experience how coffee is grown, traded, processed, roasted, and the protocols for evaluating coffee flavors.

We set up a typical cupping table complete with bowls, cupping spoons, and of course a variety of our freshly roasted and ground coffee. After an explanation of good etiquette, which in cupping requires a great deal of slurping, we analyze the coffees based on aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, balance, and any other flavor notes.

Where and When

The sessions are entirely free of charge, take approximately two hours, and are scheduled on a “first come, first served” basis. Contact us to set up an appointment or check our Calendar of Events to see if we have any sessions already planned.

"No coffee can be good in the mouth that does not first send a sweet offering of odor to the nostrils."
