Triunfo Verde

Peruvian Decaf Espresso from CAC La Florida

Triunfo Verde is a cooperative organization of over 500 small farmers, dedicated to organic farming practices. It is located in the buffer zone surrounding the El Triunfo biological reservation in Chiapas, Mexico. Through ecologically friendly practices, Triunfo Verde strives to offset land degradation in the area by promoting the recovery of natural resources. Their mission is to improve member livelihood through the sale of high quality, organic coffee at a fair price.

As environmental stewards, Triunfo Verde seeks that members of the organization remain engaged in environmental education. Through their technical and agronomic training, farmers receive the tools needed for sustainable economic development in their communities.

Ultimately, the mission of the organization is to develop and demonstrate that agriculture can be compatible with rational resource use, promoting community social and economic development of underserved communities. Their goal is to improve humankind’s relationship to nature through feasible and ecologically sound means, with social justice at its core.

The Bottom Line

Organic coffees from Triunfo Verde are consistently interesting, and this water-processed decaf is no exception. Decaffeinated coffee is often stereotyped as being bitter and flat, but this coffee possesses a pleasant aroma of raisin and nougat with flavors of raisin, malt, and milk chocolate in the cup. It is mild, medium-bodied, and representative of a well-balanced Peruvian decaffeinated coffee.
