What is Wush Wush?

This Reserve Coffee, called Wush Wush, comes from the beautiful 15-hectare farm of Monteverde, which is owned by Gildardo Gutiérrez Tejada. The Gutierrez family has been cultivating specialty coffee on Monteverde–located in the Tolima region of Colombia– for more than 70 years. The farm’s attention to detail includes harvesting coffee cherries at optimal ripeness,  controlling fermentation for up to 36 hours, and drying the cherries on raised beds in a solar dryer ( which can take up to 25 days).

Wush Wush is a delicious coffee varietal which comes from the Ethiopian area of Wush Wush, near the Bonga forest. Similar to the highly sought after Gesha variety, once this type of coffee was cataloged by the Food and Agriculture Organization variety collection, it was duplicated at research gardens around the world.

Gildardo’s son Newerly recently described the family history to our importing partners at Ally Coffee; “Mine is the fourth generation living from coffee. The three children in the family are professional cuppers and we have spent eight years producing exotic coffees.”

“We are growing the areas of the farm planted with rare varietals and our challenge is to surprise our clients with the Honey and Natural processing, delivering the kind of quality they dream about.”
